Community Prayer Vigil in Solidarity with Families Seeking Refuge

In solidarity with the immigrants and those seeking refuge at our southern border and around the world, the community is invited to attend a prayer vigil on Sunday, June 24, at 6:00 p.m., at the Church of the Ascension, 311 Washington Street, in downtown Frankfort, hosted by the Episcopal Diocese of Lexington and the Church of the Ascension. Music will start at 5:45 p.m.

The Most Reverend Michael Bruce Curry, Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, has joined interfaith leaders in calling for an end to the separation of parents and children at the border.

In a strong display of solidarity here in Kentucky’s capital, both Episcopal and Roman Catholic bishops, the Frankfort & Franklin County Ministerial Association, social justice advocates, and a variety of other church and civic leaders will come together to offer a diversity of prayers and music in support of the families living this sadness.

The Reverend William J. Neat, Rector of Ascension, said, “It is especially important at a time like this that people of compassion and faith stand together for the dignity of every human being and justice for all those seeking refuge, especially innocent children.”
