will be our Priest-in-Charge,
effective September 3, 2019.
Since July 2011, Fr. Peter has served as Rector of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Harrodsburg, Ky. Fr. Peter holds a Master of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Kansas.
Fr. Peter enjoys traditional, more Anglo-Catholic worship, but he is primarily concerned that “worship be done well: reverently, authentically, joyfully.” He wants his congregation to understand Episcopal worship. Knowing the background, history, and reasons why increases the value and joy of everyone’s worship experience. He believes music is an integral part of worship. Fr. Peter was the cantor at Deacon Sue’s ordination, so you may remember his wonderful singing voice.
He describes himself a parish priest who loves people. He believes in the importance of pastoral care both within the parish and in the community. He believes good relationships come from spending time with parishioners to know what they need and being active in the local community and in the diocese.
Family is important to Fr. Peter. He is married to Nicole Doddema, and they offer a strong, supportive team in parish life. Nicole is proud to be a member of Daughters of the King (DOK), and serves on the Diocesan DOK Board. They have a son, Roman, who begins Western Kentucky University in August. Fr. Peter brings with him his rescue dog, LeiLei, who helps with pastoral care by providing a warm, loving presence.
We look forward Fr. Peter’s arrival in September so that you can get to know him and his family. You will easily see the wonderful qualities that he brings to our parish. We envision a bright future together!
On behalf of the Vestry, I thank you for your prayers for a successful search and your trust and confidence in us. We believe God answered our prayers.
