Children & Youth

Classes meet on Sunday morning, from 9:30 to 10:15 between the 8:00 and 10:30 services. Classes are held upstairs in the Educational Building.  
 
Nursery
A nursery with a paid and trained attendant is open every Sunday during Sunday School time and through the late service. The nursery is open for infants and toddlers through age 4.
 
Preschool
A Preschool Class for ages 3 to 4 is offered, based on enrollment. If there are not enough children enrolled to form a class, the 3-year-olds go to a Nursery gathering and the 4-year-olds join the Primary Class.
 
Primary
The Primary Class is grouped for Kindergarten through third grade and uses the All Things New curriculum of the Episcopal Church which teaches Bible stories and the tradition of the church following the Church Year. 
 
Intermediate
The Intermediate Class is grouped for fourth grade through fifth grade and uses the Living the Good News curriculum of the Episcopal Church which  teaches Bible stories, tradition, and worship practices of the church in the context of the Church Year. 
 
Youth Class
The Youth class is grouped for Middle and High School students. It uses the Flash Point journal from the Living the Good News curriculum which teaches application of scripture to the lives of teens. The curriculum guide is rooted in study of the Bible, Christian tradition and the Church Year. The class participates in Outreach Projects and learning experiences. 
 
Youth Confirmation Class
Confirmation class for upper Middle School and High School age are clergy led and begin in the winter in preparation for Confirmation at the time of the Bishop’s Visitation which is always in May. Confirmation for youth is designed for young people who were baptized at an earlier age and who would like to make an adult public affirmation of their Christian faith with the Rite of Confirmation administered by the Bishop. 
 
Special Events
Various events are offered for children throughout the year. They may include Vacation Bible School and special studies or programs during Advent, Epiphany or Lent. An Easter Egg Hunt is held each Easter weekend. Diocesan Camps, which are usually held at the Cathedral Domain in rural eastern Kentucky, are also a part of the lives of our students.
